It’s time to admit to something; I am from Solihull. I was born here (Solihull, not this website) and have lived here most of my life.
If you don’t know Solihull, you may be asking yourself: “What do I need to know about this place?”, and I would reply: “Keep reading and maybe you’ll find out.”
Want beautiful scenery? – You got it.
Want a town with all of the shopping chains you’d expect to see in any town across Britain? – We have ‘em.
Want a town noted for its historic architecture, which includes examples of timber-framed Tudor style houses and shops? – All here.
You want anything else? – Go somewhere like London.
Ocean Colour Scene* & Duran Duran*. You can also hear planes as Birmingham International Airport is situated in Solihull.
I regret starting the ’senses’ theme but I’ve come so far that I can’t really turn back. It’s probably best that you just try and imagine what Solihull smells, tastes and feels like.
* I can’t actually verify or prove any of these facts but I’m sure they’re all true.

If you live in America this probably isn’t news, but Mr. T is alive and well and fronting his own show (Thanks to cams for the info). I did some research (30 seconds on YouTube) and found the opening credits to his show “I Pity The Fool”.
God help the fool(s) that Mr T. pities.

It would be more appropriate to post this on Mother’s Day but I can’t wait that long. If you’re a mother, a teacher, a priest, a child psychologist, a youth worker or anyone who needs a little help in showing the youth of today the difference between right and wrong, I suggest you show them this video. If someone as universally respected as Mr T can’t get the message across then we may as well give up and go home. By the way, does anyone know what he does these days?

I’ve started to get a lot of Xmas bumph in the post recently but one that really stood out was the Nauticalia catalogue. They basically sell sea-based gifts. Their shop in Greenwich modestly claims to be the ‘The First Shop in the World’. You can buy fascinating items such as code flag brooches, salmon cuff links or my personal favourite, the ‘lifelike’ models of historic ships’ cats formed from cardboard. The Kalashnikov watches are pretty cool though.
